So as you can tell from the brief description of the movie, it does try to have its sexual jokes but aren't very offensive or sick like other teen movies. Guy speeds off with Hal close behind. This movie is not your average teen movie of coarse it does have a few sexual references but it doesn't go overboard with the sex jokes. Gil finds a way to encourage the new school that his friends are just as cool as him. However, I do think the little glimpse she saw of him unguarded should have been included, because it would have given reason for why Maya invited him to her party even though she seemed to outwardly hate him. At Rocky Creek, he was the target of cruel jokes almost daily sample: being tied to a chair while wearing false breasts , but now, at Eastland High and with a new haircut, he is seen as a cool hero. It makes little sense, fails as often as it succeeds, and yet is not hateful and is sometimes quite cheerfully original. Now I scrutinized their interactions to see if it seemed like there was something there.
It was kind of hard to be objective about the characters after finishing the series. I did not care much for her meeting with Rafe though, as I had always preferred Maya to be with Daniel. The two fist bump each other at the victory, then Guy wraps Hal in a bear hug all the while Vinessa is still filming. Another Green Lantern arrives and restores the crane and welds it back into place while the crowd below cheers. My biggest complaint is the scene where the actors are miming to a funk song, and it shows the guitar pretend playing the bassline.
Guy Gardner catches the fallen crane. Guy tells him he may want to go on offense, when the Manhunter he thought he defeated recovers and blasts him. The movie has all the shots you would expect in a movie of this sort: cheerleaders, football heroics, pratfalls. But most importantly to me is the end the film, which made a very good point. Gardner tells Hal that he must go. Unfortunately, for all the promise this could have had, it seems kind of hollow, and not fully developed.
